As a woman approaching 40, I find it increasingly difficult to lose weight. For the most part, I can maintain my weight, but “losing” weight is much harder.
And being able to lose weight really fast is practically unheard of. I attribute this to a number of factors such as:
• No time for myself – I’m busy taking care of my family
• Challenges in managing my daily schedule between work and family life
• Sporting events usually consist of watching my kids exercise instead of me
• Eating rushed often forces me to make unhealthy choices
The Real Reason You're FAT - Regardless of How Much You Diet & Exercise
I know that if I were able to spend 5 days a week in the gym building more lean body mass (aka: muscle!) I would be burning 7 times more energy in my body than I do now. The extra 40 pounds I’m carrying around in fat is not helping me burn fat.
I used to be quite thin actually, and I had a lot of muscle. I was a gymnast for heavens sake! So I had plenty of lean body mass. I had always been extremely active growing up. But over the years, life has taken its toll on me, and much of my lean body mass has turned to fat. So, I’m carrying around more fat (which consequently takes up more space than lean body mass) and I’m not burning fat like I used to. None of which is good….and still not even close to being able to lose weight really fast.
In addition, I have grown up in an America of growing portion sizes. Why are restaurants serving such big dinner plates? Why are cookies and muffins extra large? Now, I’m not a big fast food eater – so I don’t get a gross amount of bodily sabotage from the “super size” phenomenon with drinks and fries. But I do like to eat out. I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have sat down to a meal in a restaurant, and after the meal was over, we are both staring at our plates saying “I can’t believe I ate all that”. And we really don’t feel all that great after we do it. But we continued to do it because it tasted “soooo good”. Also, we continued to eat all the food, because it was there. If only half of the food was sitting in front of us, then we would have eaten only half.
So my husband and I came up with a new term called a “2-Fer”. Now, at first you might be thinking it has something to do with missing teeth. But in fact, this is meant to represent a meal that feeds 2 for the price of 1. Basically, we share a meal when we go out to eat. This has really been a great plan for us – we have reduced our portion size by half, and it’s cheaper! What a simple concept! The only problem is that you have to agree as to what dish to order. This can be a little tougher. Although this is a great way to maintain weight, it is not going to help me
lose weight really fast
Even with my knowledge of lean muscle mass and my 2-Fer plan, I still need help in understanding how I can shed pounds fast….or at least faster. With all the challenges of life, I need a little help getting to my weight loss goal. Because the fact of the matter is, I really struggle with finding time to be in the gym. It is not likely that I will turn out to be the next Monica Brant anytime soon.
However, I have learned of another method – a different idea and approach to weight loss - The Real Reason You're FAT - Lose Weight Really Fast
